  • The latin term orchid means testicle. Could its sexual prowess be the reason for its name? Some say this sexy flower is designed to imitate the shape of the bee which will carry its pollen to another orchid to fertilize it. Others say its shape is that of an ovary in its desire to be fertilized.

    They are amongst the most successful and prolific of flowers. Their beauty (they are the Marilyn Monroe of flowers) is a lure to attract so they can continue to exist. My oil paintings on canvas are about their successful, beautiful design when achieving their goal.
